Curicó
North of de Maule and south of Cochagua, the Curicó Valley is in the heartland of classic Chilean viticulture. Curicó boasts a Mediterranean climate where winds from the sea breeze are shielded by the coastal range creating a perfect micro climate for minimal intervention growing. It is a vast, diverse valley with 1,500 hectares under vine and over 30 different grape varieties are grown here. Most notably are Cabernet Sauvignon, Carmenere, Sauvignon Blanc, and Syrah. The valley’s viticultural history began in the 1970's with the introduction of the first stainless steel tank in Chile. Decades later as a classic established fine wine region Curicó demonstrates the pace and extent of change in Chile from acceptable everyday through to exciting and innovative.
