Hamilton Russell
Hamilton Russell Vineyards is one of the most southerly wine Estates in Africa and one of the closest to the sea that pioneered viticulture and winemaking in the beautiful, cool, maritime Hemel-en-Aarde Valley appellation. The estate was founded in 1975 after an extensive search for ideal land to grow cool climate wines from a selection of noble varieties. In 1991, the range was narrowed to Pinot Noir and Chardonnay which showed off the site's unique terroir. Today, the estate is run by founder Tim Hamilton Russell's son Anthony and his wife Olive. Tiny yields and intense worldwide demand keep the elegant, highly individual, Estate grown Pinot Noir and Chardonnay in very short supply.
