Agricola Losi

The Philosophy of the Losi company is based on two fundamental principles - quality research and preservation of typical characteristics, combining tradition and innovation.A family run estate, the Losis continually renew their vineyards and invest heavily in winemaking through the use of technology and expertise. Vineyards are planted with clones of native vines that have been carefully preserved and handed down over generations within the family. New vines are planted with the cordon spur system, and thanks to the high quality of the terroir, the Losis are able to obtain the highest quality fruit from their vineyards. The Querciavalle farm, acquired in 1954 with the establishment of the company, covers 35 hectares of vineyards, olive groves, arable land and woods on the hills of Chianti, in the Castelnuovo Berardenga municipality. Vineyards extend over 12 hectares, located in what has always been known as wine-land, due to its excellent sun exposure and superb mineral soil composition, characterised by clay, limestone and marl. Five of the twelve hectares of Querciavalle farm have a particular shell shape, reminiscent of the famous Il Campo square, in Siena. Today, these vineyards fall within the Chianti Classico DOCG, and constitute the Losi Family’s most historical vineyards. The Chianti Classico Querciavalle is made from Sangiovese (and a dash of Canaiolo) from these specific vineyards, and is aged for 24 months in 50 hectolitre oak casks prior to a short time in bottle before release on to the market.
