Regent
Regent is a dark-skinned hybrid variety that was developed in Germany in 1967 by crossing Chambourcim and Diana. It ripens early and enjoys the cooler climates making it perfect for Switzerland, England and the cooler regions of the United Sates. The vine produces good yields of largish grapes and is said to be the most disease-resistant of all red grapes. The Regent grape produces deeply coloured, full-bodied red wines with dark berry aromas and flavours with an abundance of tannins. Unlike most red grapes its flesh is stained red giving a wonderful deep colour to the wines produced.
