Pinotage is a black grape variety found exclusively in South Africa, where it is viewed by many as the country's signature grape variety. A crossing of Pinot Noir and Cinsaut (formerly known as Hermitage in South Africa, hence the contraction 'Pinotage'), it gives wines of intense colour, good acidity and rich ripe black fruit.
