Pinot Gris/ Pinot Grigio
Pinot Grigio (known in French as Pinot Gris) is an immensely popular white grape variety commonly grown in Italy (Veneto, Lombardy, Alto-Adige and Emilia-Romagna), France and New Zealand’s Marlborough region. High quality examples of this variety display depth of colour (it is a mutation of the Pinot Noir grape and can easily be mistaken as such in the vineyard) and gently perfumed characteristics, while at the lower end of the scale it has been a phenomenal success in producing dry, refreshing and easy-drinking, approachable wines.
