Carricante is a native white wine grape variety from eastern Sicily. It is believed to have been growing on the volcanic hills of Mt Etna for over a thousand years. Today it is the principal grape for white wines to be classified as an Etna DOC. Known for its acidity, refreshing citrus flavour and mineral character, the best expressions of the vines are grown on volcanic soils and at high altitudes.
