Cabernet Franc
Cabernet Franc is a much overshadowed but nevertheless fine red grape variety widely grown all over the world, but with particular heritage in Bordeaux and the Loire Valley. Many single varietal Cab Francs can be found in the Loire in the guise of red Sancerre, Touraine and Anjou-Saumur, and the variety is an important component of many Bordeaux blends, particularly in the right bank appellations such as Pomerol and St-Emilion. A typical Medoc vineyard on the opposite side of the river may be planted with around 10 percent Cabernet Franc.
