Sumoll
A very rare large black grape variety native to Penedès, Catalonia. It is one of the forgotten native Catlan varietals that once was used more than Garnacha in Spain. Sumoll was devastated by the 19th century phylloxera epidemic, and was then replaced by the more common grape varieties now seen throughout Spain today. Sumoll in Catalan means to wither or mature. This very unique grape is similar in profile to Pinot Noir and has characteristic flavours of cherry and pomegranite.
