Tokaji
The Tokaji region is Hungary's most famous wine producing region and recognised as one of the first wine appellations in Europe. Filled with a rich history and a unique terroir the wines here are distinctive and most well known for the legendary sweet wines, Tokaji Aszú but is also recognised for its Furmint and the Hárslevelű grape varieties. The region's unique microclimate is shaped by the surrounding rivers, extinct volcanoes, large natural forests and moist air which creates optimal conditions for botrytis. Often wines are then aged in one of the regions 3000 underground cellars. With such a unique environment it's no surprise that the region has been listed as a world UNESCO site.
